Web Wednesday: Laity Pumpkin Patch

What else would you expect for a web spotlight in October, but a look at Maple Ridge’s Laity Pumpkin Patch?  The pumpkin patch is now open for visitors as well as school tours.

IMGP0006 Take a walk through the wooden animal play area, and practice milking cows and goats or collect eggs.  Have a look at the demonstration fall vegetable garden.  After that, the live animals await, especially the babies – goats, sheep and chicks).

Once you’ve spent time with all of the animals, head out to the woods, and check out the various displays, including the pirates, dinosaurs, giant spiders, etc.  Interested in panning for gold?  You can do that once you’re out of the woods.  Don’t forget to check out the corn maze, either.

After that it’s time to head out to the back field for the thousands of pumpkins ready for picking.  If you’ve only ever pickedIMGP0003 up your Halloween pumpkin at the grocery store, you don’t know what you’ve been missing.  It’s a pretty incredible sight to see thousands upon thousands of pumpkins waiting to be chosen.

If your school is interested a tour, please remember that reservations are required.  The $5.00/child event includes the tour, a tractor ride, a drink, and students  get to choose a pumpkin from the Charlie Brown pumpkin patch.  Each student can bring an adult (although additional adults are $3.00 each).  Siblings are also welcome for the same $5.00 price (which includes all of the benefits of the tour).

For the public, adults and children over 2 are $3.00, with pumpkins starting at $2.00, based on their size.  The pumpkin patch is open from 1:30 – 5:00 on weekdays, and 9:30 – 5:00 on weekends and holidays.

If you’re looking for a fun, inexpensive way to spend a fall afternoon, head out to the Laity Pumpkin Patch and experience one of the best fall traditions that Maple Ridge has to offer.
