Golden Ears Bridge Open

16 June 2009 142 views No Comments

It seems like it’s been forever, but the opening day of the Golden Ears Bridge is finally here, with cars and pedestrians making their way from the Maple Ridge side to Langley and beyond.

I’m one of those who will be using the bridge on a daily basis for my commute over to Langley, although being a transit user, I’ll have to wait an additional week in order to take advantage of it.  Thankfully the Albion Ferry isn’t shutting down on opening day, so I’ll still have to make the trek into Fort Langley and catch a bus on to my final destination.

But I have a feeling that I’ll be taking the car across the bridge today, just to say that I’ve done it.

It’ll be interesting to see what traffic levels for the Albion Ferry will be like on June 17th, the day after the bridge opens.

So what are your thoughts on the opening of the Golden Ears Bridge?  Is it something that you’ll use occasionally, every day, or avoid it like the plague?  Let us know in the comments, and we’ll post a follow up story once we get the best of the comments sorted out.
