Victim Identified, Man Charged In Maple Ridge Murder

More details have been released regarding the stabbing death of a man behind the Safeway at 203rd St and Lougheed Highway last week.
A 25-year-old Coquitlam man has been charged with the murder of James William Ball, 43.  Police have not released the name of the man charged as he has not made a court appearance yet.
At this point, police believe that the incident that led to the stabbing was a personal dispute between the two men, and not related to gangs or drugs.  Ball had no known criminal record.

Foul Play Suspected In Maple Ridge Death

Members of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team have been called in after a man was found near the loading dock of the Safeway at Lougheed Highway and 203rd Street around 6:15 this morning.
The man was transported to Ridge Meadows Hospital where he later died.  Foul play is suspected, but no further details are available at this time.

Rivers Day In Maple Ridge

This Sunday, come out to one of the two Rivers Day celebrations being held here in Maple Ridge.
The Alouette River Management Society (ARMS) will be hosting their festivities at the Rivers Heritage Center in Allco Park (24959 Alouette Road, Allco Park), and the Kanaka Education and Environmental Partnership Society (KEEPS) will be gathering at the Kanaka Creek Regional Park – Riverfront (Lougheed Highway & Haney By-pass on River Road).  Both celebrations run from 11am – 3pm.

Hot on the heels of the Terry Fox Run, the Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast is taking place between September 23rd and October 1st.  About a hundred law enforcement officers from around the Lower Mainland will be taking part in the event, which will bring them to the Ridge Meadows area next Tuesday and Wednesday (September 29th and 30th).

Tuesday Night Racing At Ridge Meadows BMX

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to post about this earlier in the summer, but I felt that it was something worth mentioning if you’re looking for an activity to take your kids to, at least one more time this year.  The Ridge Meadows BMX track will be hosting it’s final evening of racing for this year on Tuesday night.  Registration runs from 5:30 – 6:30 and the first gate drops at 7pm.

In addition to the open house at the ACT this Saturday, there’s also a wine and beer tasting festival on Saturday night, starting at 7:00pm.  Take part in the silent or live auctions or the 50-50 draw.  There will also be local restaurants showing off their best dishes and great live music.
Tickets are $45 at the ACT box office, or only $40 if you purchase them from the Meadowridge Rotary.  All proceeds help to support arts projects and events in the Ridge Meadows area.
